About

We listen, act, and transform

Therapy is a collaborative process grounded in a working and trusting relationship where both client and therapist engage towards building understanding and movement. I strive to create a safe and compassionate environment where you can explore your issues and increase your well-being while identifying life context that contribute to the challenges you face. We will work to apply contextual aspects, including identities, culture, and community alignments, to illuminate both challenges and potential aspects of resolution. For many people, the idea of reaching out for help is daunting. Whether dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, ongoing impact of trauma, relationship issues, or life and work functioning, it takes courage and trust to share personal thoughts, feelings, and behaviors with another person, especially a stranger. My clients have given me feedback that my style--informal, authentic, honest, non-judgmental and good-humored--helps to diffuse the anxiety they feel when entering counseling and build the trust needed to fully participate in the therapy process. I have been Staff Psychologist, Senior Associate Director, and Training Director at two university counseling centers, supervising professional staff and trainees at all developmental levels (Post doc through practicum), consulting with other professionals, and gaining leadership experience on a national board of counseling center training directors. I have 30+ years of experience leading groups with focused work in trauma survivor and LGBTQ communities. I apply what I've learned in 30+ years of experience as a therapist, supervisor, and consultant to all of my interactions with clients, supervisees, and peers, If you feel you might be ready to talk with someone about your concerns, please feel free to contact me with your questions. I know it's hard to find a therapist with whom you feel comfortable, and I'd be glad to help you get to know me or find someone else to help if I'm not the right person for you. I do not take it lightly that you have chosen me to support you during what may be a challenging time in your life. My hope is to aid you in living a more empowered and centered life. I look forward to talking with you soon!
